Nicolette “Nicki” Klein

Nicki Klein, District Administrator for Rotary District 5650 & dedicated Rotarian, passed away August 14th, 2026.

Lincoln South Rotary is hosting a gathering to celebrate and remember the life of Nicki Klein, a cherished friend, dedicated Rotarian, and beloved member of the District 5650 family.

The event will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Lancaster Room at Venue Restaurant in Lincoln.

For many years, Nicki served Rotary District 5650 with extraordinary dedication, helping clubs, district leaders, and countless Rotarians navigate the details that keep Rotary moving forward. More importantly, she built lasting friendships throughout our district and touched the lives of many through her warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to service.

We invite friends, family, Rotarians, and all who knew Nicki to join us as we share stories, memories, laughter, and reflections. Together, we will celebrate the impact she had on our lives and the legacy she leaves behind.

Whether you worked alongside Nicki, served with her in Rotary, or simply enjoyed her friendship, we hope you will join us in honoring a remarkable woman whose presence made our district and our communities stronger.

Honor Nicki's Legacy Through The Rotary Foundation

Nicki believed deeply in the power of The Rotary Foundation and was especially passionate about District Grants, which help Rotary clubs create lasting impact in our local communities. At the family's request, Rotarians wishing to honor Nicki's memory are encouraged to make a memorial gift to The Rotary Foundation.

To make a donation in memory of Nicki:

  1. Visit the Rotary Foundation donation page: Donate to The Rotary Foundation
  2. Select Annual Fund-SHARE as your designation. This is the option Nicki would have chosen because these gifts help support future District Grants and Rotary projects throughout District 5650.
  3. Check the box: "I would like to make this donation in honor or memory of someone."
  4. Select "In memory of" and enter Nicolette Klein.
  5. If you would like the family to be notified of your gift, enter:

    • Gretchen Bren
    • gretchen.bren@rotarydistrict5650.org

I will ensure that notification is shared with Nicki's family.

  6. Enter your donation amount.
  7. If you have a Rotary.org account, consider signing in before completing your gift. Memorial donations still count toward your personal Rotary Foundation recognition and future Paul Harris Fellow milestones.
  8. Complete the remaining steps for contact information, payment details, and submission.

Thank you for helping honor Nicki's legacy through a cause she cared about deeply. Every gift will help continue Rotary's work of creating positive change in our communities and around the world.

First Responders Tailgate! This Friday from 5pm-6:35pm!

Service Above Self: Join Our New Meals on Wheels Partnership!
Omaha West Rotary is excited to launch our first-ever volunteer partnership with Meals on Wheels! Our kickoff event is scheduled for Monday, September 21st. Following the launch, our club will cover a route on the third Monday of every month for the remainder of 2026.
To start out, we are handling one route each month, which requires two Rotarians to team up and serve. If we see high demand from our members, we can easily add more routes in the future! This is a meaningful, hands-on way to support local seniors right here in Omaha. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!

More Ways to Give Back: Serving at the Hope Lodge on Sept 10th
In addition to our new Meals on Wheels initiative, Omaha West Rotary is heading to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge on Thursday, September 10th! The Hope Lodge provides a wonderful, free "home away from home" for cancer patients and their caregivers while they travel to Omaha for treatment.
Our club will be pitching in to support their guests, ease their stress, and bring a bit of comfort during a challenging time. It is a fantastic hands-on project that directly impacts families staying right here in our community. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!

Omaha West Rotary - Fan Drive
Omaha West Rotary Successfully Doubles Our Impact with 2 Full Pallets of Box Fans!
Omaha West Rotary has absolutely crushed our goals for the August Box Fan Drive, raising a phenomenal total of $1,272! Thanks to your amazing generosity and a special bulk discount from Menards, our drive has officially closed with incredible success.
With one commercial pallet costing $636.48, the total funds raised allowed us to purchase 2 full pallets—delivering a total of 72 brand-new box fans to our neighbors at the Open Door Mission!
Thank you to everyone who pitched in to help local families beat the heat. Tony Denman is handling all the final logistics, storage, and coordination for our big delivery. We finished the summer strong and truly maximized our impact for Omaha families!

First Responser's Tailgate
Sep. 04, 2026
5:00 p.m. – 6:35 p.m.

Hi everyone,

We’re getting close to our First Responders Night at Werner Park on Friday, September 4, and I’d love to see a great Omaha West Rotary turnout!

If you’re planning to stay for the Storm Chasers game, Rotarians can purchase discounted tickets here:

ROTARY TICKET LINK

Even if you can’t stay for the game, we would still LOVE to have you join us for the pregame tailgate (attached is the tailgate area)! This is our opportunity to welcome these first responders and their families, thank them for their service, and show them just how great Omaha West Rotary is. The more Rotarians we have there to greet and celebrate them, the better!

And please keep spreading the word! Send the First Responders invitation to every firefighter, law enforcement officer, EMT/EMS professional or first responder you know. We want to reach as many families as possible.

I won’t be at our club meeting this Friday, but if you have any questions about the event, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Thank you all for helping make this a great night for our local first responders and their families!

Rt. 106: This route picks up coolers in the parking lot north of St. Timothy Church (93rd & Dodge). The route starts at 120th south of Blondo, heads south to 114th and Pacific and then heads west on Pacific, ending at 144th. Currently there are 8 clients (8 stops). This route will take about 1hr-1.25hrs to complete.

Onboarding Process: We would need to enroll all those that would be volunteering to deliver meals (including spouses). The enrollment process would be to fill out a short enrollment form, consent to a background check, review and acknowledgment of our handbook.

How it works: Each route picks up their coolers by 10:55am. The volunteer will pick up 2 coolers (1 with the hot trays and 1 with the cold items). Once arriving to the home, the volunteer will put the hot tray and cold items in a plastic bag and deliver to the client’s home. Some clients have mobility issues so they may have special instructions on the route sheet, such as knock, walk in, announce yourself, give meal to client. If a client does not answer the door, never leave the meal and always call our office. Not only is the program set up to provide a nutritious meal but also to provide a safety net to our clients. So, if they do not answer the door, we are calling the client, their emergency contact, or doing a well check to ensure they are okay. Once the route is complete, the volunteer can keep the coolers until the next delivery, or they can drop them off at our Meals on Wheels office (132nd & L St.).
