Last week Jill Slupe introduced us to new member David M. Thompson. David is an attorney with the Omaha law firm of Carlson & Burnett, where his practice focuses on Elder Law, Medicaid planning, veterans benefits, and guardianships/conservatorships. David also directs the firm’s marketing and business development efforts and has presented and published articles on a wide range of topics. He currently serves as Vice President of the Elder Law Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association. David first came to the Omaha area as a child when his father, an Air Force officer, was stationed at Offutt Air Base in Bellevue. He received his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After completing his master’s degree at Oxford University in England on a Marshall Scholarship and his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago, David attended law school at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Northwestern University Law Review and was the recipient of the Raoul Berger Prize for Senior Research. David returned to Omaha in 2013 to care for his aging parents. When he is not working or tending to family responsibilities, he can be found working in his garden, perusing Omaha’s art galleries, and enjoying the many fine restaurants that have popped up in the years since he left town. Welcome, David! |
