Last week was a fun Rotary "Signing Day" at Rotary where we recognized newer members. West is leading the way in membership and last Friday was a celebration of that. Thank you to Lindsey Vande Hoef and Warren Whitted for the planning, Dick Lerner for the helping to get the shirts, and Kaleb Duncan for photography.
We will have an opportunity to have a 19th Hole get together for those who are unable to participate in the scramble, but want to be part of the fun. You can register to golf or be a sponsor HERE. If you have any questions, please reach out to Candy Specht.
The Family of Rotary Committee has been offered the opportunity to get discounted tickets for the Corteo Cirque de Soleil event coming to CHI Nov. 30-Dec.3. This show is an amazing circus with a carnival atmosphere. Cirque de Soleil shows feature very talented performers that can do amazing acrobatics.
In order to receive a discount we need to purchase 10 tickets or more. The representative from Corteo recommends that we do this soon.
Please let Kathy Wawers ASAP if you would be interested. We are hoping to get tickets for the Nov. 30 show. With the discount, we could purchase tickets in the $61-$77 range. The seats should be in the lower tier of CHI.
It is a family friendly show. Google Corteo, Cirque de Soleil for more details.
I wanted to follow up on our club's interest in hosting a delegation for the 23-24 Open World program offered through Rotary International.
First, I want to say thank you to all of our members who offered to participate and host delegates and to the Lincoln 14 Rotarians who were eager to co-host with us.
Unfortunately, the delegation we were hoping to host is no longer coming and other delegations don't match our programming focus or timing. The board voted to continue to pursue this opportunity in future program years and Lincoln 14 is still on board for co-hosting.
Thanks again for your support and interest in international involvement for our club.
The West Omaha Rotary Ecology Committee is planning on refurbishing the hike/bike trail sign at Newport Landing, near Bennington (Highway 36 between 168th and 180th, sign located on top of the dam) on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 9:30 AM. We will sand both sides of the sign, stain it, clean up the plexiglass covering of the bike trail maps, and hang a new map. We are soliciting volunteers. Come ready to work; if you have a battery-powered sander, please bring it. Questions can be directed to Charles Shapiro, 402 649 5071 or chas613@hotmail.com. These signs were originally installed by Rotarians along with trail markers as a metro-wide project many years ago.
Downtown Rotary leads a project annually in memory of the Events of 9/11. They will be setting up flags in Memorial Park on Saturday, September 2nd from 9-11am. They are looking for volunteers to help. You can click on the link below to sign up.
