Last Week at Rotary
Last week Lucas Tieso gave the invocation. Maryssa Brown and Laura Thomas served as Greeters.  Ben Kratz was Cashier and Lucas Tieso was Sgt. at Arms.  We had several announcements and heard a vocational from new member David Thompson. Jill Slupe filled in as Secretary and also introduced Dr. John Hallgren who talked to us about the model of direct primary care.

Family of Rotary
Thank you to Mark C. Manhart for hosting our Family of Rotary event last week! (More photos on Facebook)

We need an October host- let Laura Thomas know if you are willing to host.
Upcoming Service Opportunities
Thank you to those who helped with the Skinner Resource room set up last weekend!

We need volunteers for two upcoming projects:

On Wednesday, October 16th we will be assembling care packages for homeless families transitioning to housing with help from Heartland Family Services.   3-5pm at Slate Architecture. Sign up by going to the calendar portion of our website and clicking on the event.

On Saturday, October 19th, we are partnering with Habitat for Humanity and Suburban Rotary for Rock the Block.
You must sign up by clicking HERE so that you can complete the waiver, etc.

This event is all about bringing communities together and promoting healthy neighborhoods!  Months before the event, our staff meets and surveys the existing neighbors in the areas we serve. With your help, we will assist these residents with a variety of tasks, which usually include light repair, clean-up, sanding, painting, staining, and a lot of landscaping. At the end of the day, the neighborhood shines a little brighter, and new relationships are formed.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as water to drink.  Volunteer check-in and breakfast starts at 7:30 AM.  We will kickoff at 8:00 AM with a brief introduction to Habitat and the Rock the Block program. Then the music will start pumping and the work begins!  When it is all finished, we celebrate the day’s success and show our gratitude by sitting down together for lunch.

Location- TBA- there are 2 shifts 8-11 and 11-2

You will discuss real challenges and exchange ideas.

Sign up yourself - you will be a more effective leader for your Rotary Club.

RLI is for everyone - Leadership is not a position, it is action.

Dundee Presbyterian Church - Omaha
Register by October 12 (logon or register for an account at rli-heartland.org)
$85 paid in advance

RLI is not a repeat of other training available through Rotary and is not position specific.

The curriculum is designed using the learning spiral with sessions building on previous topics and experiences. Click here for the brochure.

Testimonial from a recent participant: RLI was a great opportunity to explore Rotary - really learn about this vast organization. This is the first time I truly understood that Rotary was not just about my Club - it extends beyond to other communities, states and the world. I feel that I can truly help my club with programs now that I have participated in RLI.
Roster Update -Deadline extended to 9/30
We will be producing a new printed roster this fall.  Consider advertising with us and supporting the cost of printing. We will be passing around a roster to update information or you can email your update to Jennifer.  Please contact Matt McKeever or Jennifer for more information or to place an ad.

Club Vision Statement
