Please consider sharing some of your time with our Youth Exchange student, Yumi Yamakawa. Activities can be as singificant as a weekend event or trip or as simple as inviting her to lunch or a movie.
Other ideas: A Creighton or UNO sporting event; museum tour; a play or event at the Holland or Orpheum; include her in a hobby event or activity; or include her in a family event.

POLIO ERADICATION – We are asking you to donate $32 during the month your birthday is recognized. The District has set $32 per person as a giving goal for PolioPlus. Your donation will be given to The Rotary Foundation in your name for PolioPlus. Rotary has led the private sector in the global effort to rid the world of polio for over 30 years. The PolioPlus program helps Rotary fund operational costs, such as transportation, vaccine delivery, social mobilization, and training of health workers, and support surveillance activities. National Education Association "Read Across America Day" is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. West Rotarians have the opportunity to join in that celebration by reading Dr. Seuss books to students at the Skinner Magnet Center the week of March 2nd through 6th. Thank you to members that have volunteered to read to the students - Gretchen Radler, Bob Fell, Bonnie Gill, Janet Wallace, Steve Levinger, Susan Thomas, Gail Veitzer, and Bob Runyon.

Bob Fell would like to remind club members a few years ago, Robert Runyon introduced the concept of Rotary Readers as a way we can help our Adopt-A-School Partner excel. Bob’s goal has been to foster an appreciation of the fun of reading at an early age. Personal self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment in the children are two reasons to help these young people, but there is a “bottom line” reason, too: there is a very high correlation between reading well in second or third grade and finishing high school. Put another way, most drop outs have had trouble reading throughout their schooling. Drop outs cost society at every level.
This is an invitation to become a Rotary Reader. Several of our members have been doing it for years and return again and again because it DOES make a difference. How can you become involved? The best way is to select a day Tuesday through Thursday when you can get away for an hour or two on a regular basis. You can read every week or every-other week, and the teachers and students certainly understand that personal and work commitments can cause you to miss an occasional session. If you can spend an hour, you’ll probably work with two students, either at the same time or in two 30-minute sessions. This doesn’t require any skills, except to listen to the student, read, and care. Send Bob Fell the day and hour you would like to read, and he will work with the librarian, Bobbie Martinie, to link you up with a teacher. The two of you can work it out from there. Registration for BRAN 35 - Search for Adventure Tour is open online. Click here for registration information and to complete your registration online. If the link does not work for you please paste this web address in your internet browser, http://bran-inc.org/wp/?page_id=99 . The Search for Adventure Tour will be held June 7 - 13, 2015. The ride will start in Wauneta, Nebraska and end at the Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School west of Murray on Highway. The other overnight towns are Cambridge, Eustis, Axtell, Clay Center, Wilber, and Syracuse. For those of you that opt to ride the bus they will load at the Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School, 8404 42nd Street, Murray, Nebraska on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Buses will load at 7:00 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:00 a.m. Participant check-in will be held at the Wauneta-Palisade High School, 214 West Wichita, Wauneta, Nebraska on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
SUBURBAN ROTARY
'Omaha Metro Business Networking Event' will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Champions Run, 13800 Eagle Run Drive from 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Attendance is free and open to Rotarians and guests. Order forms for polo and long sleeve button shirts are available at the club meetings. Both shirts will have the Rotary wheel logo and the club name embroidered on the shirt. The polo shirt cost is $50 and the long sleeve button shirt cost is $72. You may select the shirt color and size on the order forms. Payment needs to be received when placing your order.
