UNO Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service
Gaylene S. Armstrong, Ph.D., is the Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. Prior to this role, she served as the director and distinguished professor of the UNO School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She was also co-director of the Nebraska Collaborative for Violence Intervention and Prevention. As a criminologist, Armstrong engages in a collaborative approach to community engaged research encompassing criminal justice agencies, community stakeholders, state legislators, and individuals with lived criminal justice experiences across the U.S. She has led over $37 million dollars in grant funded research in violence intervention and prevention, specifically in the domains of adult and youth corrections, juvenile justice reform, terrorism, and criminal justice policy evaluation. Armstrong frequently collaborates with criminal justice, social service, and community-based organizations to guide criminal justice policy and improve practice.
Congratulations and thank you to Gretchen Radler who received Paul Harris Fellow recognition of +6 from Candy Specht last week for her donations to the Rotary Foundation. The Intl. Rotary Foundation supports projects around the world (including locally) to eradicate disease, promote literacy, peace, and economic security.

We were saddened to learn over the weekend of the passing of one of our long-time members, Ron Niederhaus.
He was a wonderful Rotarian and friend and will be missed.
Ron’s visitation will be November 5th, 4-7 pm at West Center Chapel (7805 West Center Rd). The funeral will be November 6th at 11 am, Dundee Presbyterian Church (5312 Underwood Ave).
Rotary maintains 10 libraries in North Omaha filling them every 4-6 weeks. If you have any used books or want to volunteer to stock them, contact Bonnie Gill.
