Last Week at Rotary
Last week Blake Martin  gave the invocation. Russ Iwan and Kari Ketchum served as Greeters.  Anne Fuhrman and Tim Neal were Cashiers and Carl Philo was Sgt. at Arms.  Yolanda Hoffman took care of a/v for us.  Martie Cordaro introduced Mayor Stothert who gave us an update.
Family of Rotary
Mark your calendars for our next event on November 4th at the Ronald McDonald house.  Cost is $10 for pizza we will eat with the families after a tour.   More details will follow.
November is Rotary Foundation Month
Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the International Rotary Foundation this year. The easiest way is to go to the Rotary website at and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 19-20 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.
The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the meal packaging, care packages for the homeless, and a new laundry room for Skinner Magnet School.
You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Friday and Jennifer will send it in for you.
Service Projects
We are looking for volunteers for the Skinner Magnet School Career Fair.
The event will take place on November 21st (Thursday) from 1:00 to 3:30 at the Skinner Magnet School (4304 N. 33rd Street).  If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer, please contact Nick Rosenberry.
If you haven’t attended this event in the past, below is some general information:
Format:  You will be set up at a table where small groups (6-7) of 4th/5th graders will rotate every 5 to 10 minutes.  There should be about 125 kids in total.
Attire: Wear the attire that you normally wear to work.  This way students can get a feel for what you do and how you need to dress for your job.
Purpose: We ask you to show them the "tools of your trade" so they could relate to how this helps them earn a living, helps them to be of service to other people, research that helps humanity at large, etc.  Our goal is to inspire them to do well in school, to understand why making an extra effort in their education is good for their future, and perhaps to believe that “I can do it, too”.  Whatever you can do to help achieve that goal for these kids is very much appreciated!
We will also be participating in Salvation Army Bell Ringing on Saturday, November 30th from 10am to 4pm at HyVee at 3410 N. 156th St.  Please mark your calendar. We will have sign ups at the meeting Friday.
