Welcome New Member!

Steve Weston is a Cybersecurity Advisor at Peregrine Cyber, bringing expertise in developing and maturing security programs for small businesses. They offer guidance in aligning with NIST CSF 2.0 and CIS Controls, providing risk-based cybersecurity assessments and actionable reporting. Steve collaborates with internal IT teams to enhance defenses across identity, access, infrastructure, and endpoint security.

Within Medical Solutions' environment, Steve served as a Security Solutions Architect and Senior Security Analyst. They led the transition to a new SOC MSP, configuring secure log forwarding to Splunk to enhance centralized monitoring and incident response. Steve streamlined security operations by implementing Microsoft Sentinel and Defender XDR, improving visibility and response coordination across internal teams. Their work included aligning detection logic and security controls with NIST CSF and SOC 2 requirements, supporting a zero-finding SOC 2 Type IIaudit. They also launched and led a formal vulnerability management program, driving sustained remediation efforts that reduced exploitable and high-severity vulnerabilities across the organization.

Prior to this, Steve was an Infrastructure Security Engineer at Red Berry Innovations, where they architected and managed hybrid and multi-tenant Azure environments, ensuring scalability, segmentation, and secure operations across business units. They supported CMMC readiness efforts by aligning Azure GCC High configurations with required controls, providing foundational compliance for DoD contract eligibility. Their background also includes serving as Manager, Information Technology at Jhtt.

Earlier in their career, Steve contributed to Nebraska Medicine as a System Administrator, overseeing infrastructure and endpoint management across 4,000+ systems, supporting hospital operations with a focus on uptime, security, and HIPAA compliance. They led enterprise software deployments, ensuring minimal disruption and consistent application performance across departments. Steve also managed SCCM-based patching and configuration baselines, establishing a repeatable and auditable process for vulnerability management
