West Rotarians in cooperation with Goodwill, Inc. held a computer recycling event on Thursday, April 30th. They collected old household computers, monitors and miscellaneous computer equipment. We want to thank RANDY PARKS for organizing this project. Thank you also to our Rotary volunteers - MANNY PAZ, DWAYNE BROWN, SUSAN THOMAS, and JOHN V. MOREY
The West Omaha Rotary Foundation is participating in Omaha Gives - a 24 hour charitable challenge organized by the Omaha Community Foundation. We will be joining nearly 700 local nonprofits to raise money together and compete for matching funds and prize money. The more money we raise, the larger percentage of the bonus dollars we will receive. The more donors we get to give to us, the more likely we are to win prizes. The online giving will take place May 20th from midnight to midnight. Your donations collectively can result in additional matching or prize funds for our club foundation. Donations will support our programs at the Skinner Magnet Center, Skinner Skyhawk Awards, Mitten Tree Project, Senior Recognition Day, Dora Bingel Senior Center, Rotary Youth Leadership programs, Police and Fire recognition programs and other local educational, health and humanitarian projects and programs.

Steve Levinger, Vocational Service Committee Chair, would like you to schedule a 2-3 minute vocational talk. Share with members information about your profession, yourself and your family. Remember, we want to hear from our new members and our new members would like to learn more about the professions of their fellow Rotarians so please schedule a vocational talk. Congratulations to the 2015 Outstanding Seniors honored at the Senior Recognition Day luncheon on May 1st. A senior from each of the 25 area high schools was recognized. Aren Rendell, Westside High School, was selected as the student speaker from among all the seniors. Dr. Ali S. Kahn, Dean, College of Public Health, UNMC was the keynote speaker. We want to thank Jeff DeWispelare and Laura Iliff, Senior Recognition Committee Co-Chairs, and all of the committee members for their efforts in planning the 59th Senior Recognition Day luncheon. It was an event enjoyed by all in attendance. A special thanks is extended to Manny Paz and Omaha Print for the complimentary printing of the Senior Recognition Day booklet that provides a brief resume of the each student. Congratulations and good luck to the 2015 seniors as they look forward to continuing their education. The seniors and the schools they attended are listed below:

POLIO ERADICATION – We are asking you to donate $32 during the month your birthday is recognized. The District has set $32 per person as a giving goal for PolioPlus. Your donation will be given to The Rotary Foundation in your name for PolioPlus. Rotary has led the private sector in the global effort to rid the world of polio for over 30 years. The PolioPlus program helps Rotary fund operational costs, such as transportation, vaccine delivery, social mobilization, and training of health workers, and support surveillance activities. Your donation can help "End Polio Now."
Order forms for polo and long sleeve button shirts are available at the club meetings. Both shirts will have the Rotary wheel logo and the club name embroidered on the shirt. The polo shirt cost is $50 and the long sleeve button shirt cost is $72. You may select the shirt color and size on the order forms. Payment needs to be received when placing your order.

Registration for BRAN 35 - Search for Adventure Tour is open online. Click here for registration information and to complete your registration online. The ride will start in Wauneta, Nebraska and end at the Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School west of Murray on Highway. The other overnight towns are Cambridge, Eustis, Axtell, Clay Center, Wilber, and Syracuse. For those of you that opt to ride the bus they will load at the Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School, 8404 42nd Street, Murray, Nebraska on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Buses will load at 7:00 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:00 a.m. Participant check-in will be held at the Wauneta-Palisade High School, 214 West Wichita, Wauneta, Nebraska on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
