Jim grew up in Bellevue, Neb., and received his bachelor’s degree from Creighton University – go, Jays! Jim is married to Sherry Minge and they have two daughters, Vivian and Stella. Vivian will be a sophomore in high school and Stella will be a senior in college. Jim began his career at the Omaha World-Herald, sharpening pencils and making tea and coffee for the news staff. He was called a “gofer,” and it wasn’t until later in life that he realized it had nothing to do with resembling a furry critter. (However, if you knew Jim at that time, you would understand his confusion.) He worked his way up from gofer to obituaries and then to small community stories and then to the entertainment side of the paper. He wrote about music, theater and movies, as well as local broadcast news as a columnist. Later, Jim was the editor-in-chief of Omaha publications The Reader and The City Weekly. From there, he launched the Omaha Dispatch, a local arts and entertainment e-pub that has grown from a couple of hundred subscribers in 2012 to 52,277 subscribers as of today. Its tagline is simple: "Find your fun.” Then, in 2016, Jim joined Bozell where he was the Director of Content & PR until Bozell closed its doors on Jan. 31 of this year. Six days later, on Feb. 6, Jim launched Wayfinder PR, LLC so he could continue to practice his beloved craft of storytelling. His tagline for Wayfinder is simple as well: “Your story. Your journey. Mapped with heart, hindsight and hustle.” Also, go, Jays!
