Last week, our President Nuzhat Mahmood presided the meeting. Rana Scarlett-Johnson gave the Invocation. John Morey and Luke Mcneese served as greeters while Anne Fuhrman was Cashier. Randy Kathol was Sgt At Arms. Jim Meier gave a vocation talk. Asst. Gov. John Marburger of Downtown Rotary introduced our guest speaker District Governor Tom Cardwell. Tom spoke about his vision for District 5650 and RI President Ian Riseley's initiatives, namely: Increase women membership and address the issue of human trafficking. Tom encouraged the club to pursue RI Youth programs, such as Rotaract, Interact, and RYLA. Tom echoed President Riseley's direction for each Rotarian to plant a tree. After completing the rigorous Red Badge requirements, Ric Miller received his Blue Badge from President Nuzhat. Jim Meier giving his 2-minute vocational talk, but he went over his time allocation. Matt fined Rotarians at Jim's table. Matt at his finest moment fining several Rotarians. He even fined Dick Lerner of Bel Air Fashions who provided his outfit that day. Bonnie, RI Foundation Chair, provided an update to the club on how we are doing with our Foundation support. We had several committee announcements: Kim Kuhle announced Soup Supper, Family of Rotary event, that she's hosting at her home on Oct. 21. There will be sign up sheets with details on Oct 6. Suzan Rohrig announced her Red Badge event on Oct. 11, at Champions. John Philo presented the committee chairs to Gov. Cardwell and he encouraged every West Rotarian to sign up for a committee. Cardwell prior to the club meeting where each chair reported what they have accomplished and shared their plans for the rest of the year. The Governor was impressed with the committee reports. During the club meeting, John Philo, recognized the Committee Chairs and each chair was given the opportunity to say a few words about their respective committees.
