Last week Brett Wawers introduced us to new member (and his wife), Kathy Wawers.  Kathy isa recently retired science teacher from Skutt Catholic High School. Prior to teaching, she worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals.

 

Kathy has a B.S. in chemistry from UNL and a M.S. in secondary education from UNO. Her hobbies include golfing, reading, spoiling my grandsons, and attending Creighton men’s basketball games. She and Brett have been married for 36 years and have 3 daughters and 4 grandsons who all live in Omaha.  Welcome, Kathy! 

 

Congratulations and thank you to Deirdre Milobar who received her Paul Harris +1 recognition from Rotary Foundation Committee Co-Chair Lori Benton last week for her donations of $2000.  The intl. Rotary Foundation supports projects around the world (and here locally) to eradicate disease, promote literacy, peace, and economic security.

We are pleased that more of you have been coming to Champions to attend meetings.   The RSVP is important for lunch counts since meals are plated so we don't run out of food.  However, we understand that some folks have last-minute schedules and can't pre-register until Friday so we are making a couple of changes:

 

NEW deadline to register for a meal is Thursday at noon.

You can register online Friday morning for a "no-lunch" only.   We will be thrilled to see you!

Last weekend several Rotarians and family members spent some time on Saturday making care packages for those served by Grief's Journey when they lose a family member.   YOUR financial support made this District Grant possible- thank you to all those who volunteered.  Please see the rest of our photos on Facebook.

 

Friday, October 30^th is our annual Rotary Foundation Fundraising Campaign kick-off meeting featuring Bill Harvey, our District's TRF Guru. One (oh, there're more!) of the goals of this committee is to encourage every club member to donate every year. Ten dollars one time up to a monthly automatic donation – as long as every member donates once.  To ensure everyone has an opportunity to donate, WEAR A COSTUME to the Friday, October 30^th meeting (in-person or on Zoom)  Don’t wear a costume and pay a "fine" to donate $20 to the Rotary Foundation.
