Club Foundation Supports Anti-Human Trafficking Efforts

In its recent Trustees meeting, the Omaha West Rotary Foundation approved up to $3,000.00, to support a multi-Rotary club project called "Hotel-Motel" project. The Hotel-Motel project seeks to eliminate and prevent sex trafficking by educating those in the hospitality industry to recognize when it is happening and to train them on how to respond. In addition, this educational effort is designed to spur cultural change within the general community and among first responders.

The Hotel-Motel Project is relevant, timely and needed because: (1) There is a high incidence of sex trafficking in hotels-motels; (2) Personnel employed by hotels-motels see first hand what happens within their facility, and, if trained, are able to enhance intervention and prevention; and (3) There is a beginning national trend to criminally and civilly target facilitators of sex trafficking, with common themes including reckless disregard of sex trafficking within the facility, and failure to train facility personnel regarding sex trafficking.

Thank you for your support to the Omaha West Rotary Foundation.
