Welcome Matt Ross!

Last week Martie Cordaro introduced us to new member, Matt Ross.  Matt is a Medical Device Manager for Smith and Nephew out of Austin, Texas.  Matt has been in the industry for 20 years

Matt was born on Offutt Air Force Base. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Angie, for 27 years and they have three children. Two are in college and one in high school. Matt loves the Green Bay Packers, the outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends. He is joining Rotary to give back to the community and find ways to improve what we are doing and preserve this great state we live in. Welcome, Matt!

November is Rotary Foundation Month

Consider making your annual donation to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  This money comes back to us in three years in the form of Global and District grants to spend on our projects.   Your donation goes around the world to promote literacy, fight disease, and encourage peace.   Every Rotarian Every Year asks that you consider a gift of at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation.

Sign up for Bell-Ringing
We will be ringing the bells for the Salvation Army again this year on Saturday, November 28th at the HyVee at 156th and Maple.  It is a great outside, socially-distanced service project.  Sign up by CLICKING HERE.  You can sign up friends and family as well.

Rotary Leadership Institute
Engage and empower members . . .
Energize and strengthen your Rotary Club . . .
Provide Leadership Development for Members . . .
Learn about Rotary and have fun!

That is the Rotary Leadership Institute experience!

Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is a facilitated program with active participation - not lecturing. Topics important to Rotary and Rotary Clubs such as Effective Service Projects, Membership Engagement, and understanding The Rotary Foundation are explored. You will discuss real challenges and exchange ideas.

Sign up yourself - you will be a more effective leader for your Rotary Club.

Nominate members and they will naturally become more engaged because they will have a richer Rotary experience.

RLI is for everyone - Leadership is not a position, it is action.

Since we have not been able to hold RLI sessions in person, I have been working on possible online options.

We have been invited to partner with Rotary District 5520 (New Mexico and a few clubs in Texas). They have scheduled a Part 1 RLI session as follows:

Saturday, November 14
8:30 AM - 2:10 PM Central Time
There are 2 breaks during the day
There is no cost - they will send materials by email
Space is limited - please let me know ASAP if you have members wanting to register

Since this is not in our district, we may hear of different challenges and opportunities. Also their District Governor is quite involved in the RLI sessions. But one of the things that we value about RLI is sharing ideas - learning about other Clubs and Districts.

RLI is not a repeat of other training available through Rotary and is not position specific.

Testimonial from a recent participant: RLI was a great opportunity to explore Rotary - really learn about this vast organization. This is the first time I truly understood that Rotary was not just about my Club - it extends beyond to other communities, states and the world. I feel that I can truly help my club with programs now that I have participated in RLI.
