West Rotary in cooperation with Goodwill, Inc. has scheduled a computer recycling event. This recycling event will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. You can bring your old household computers, monitors and miscellaneous computer equipment to the Canfields Parking Lot, 8457 West Center Road. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers about this great opportunity to recycle your household computers that are taking up space at home.
Dr. Ali S. Kahn, Dean at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health will be the keynote speaker for this special event. One of the Seniors being honored will also be speaking. The name of the student speaker will be announced soon. One outstanding senior from each of the twenty-five area high schools will be honored at the Senior Recognition Day program. Students, parents, counselors, principals, superintendents and guests will join us for this program honoring the selected Outstanding Seniors. Members have a unique opportunity to eat lunch and visit with the senior students who are ready to take the next step in their life as they look forward to new experiences and studies at the colleges and universities they will attend in pursuit of their future careers.
Senior Recognition Day will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015. Make your reservations now at a Friday meeting or email the Rotary office. Cost for this luncheon is $16. Since this luncheon is a plated, served meal we need advance reservations by Monday, April 27th.
Please consider sharing some of your time with our Youth Exchange student, Yumi Yamakawa. Activities can be as singificant as a weekend event or trip or as simple as inviting her to lunch or a movie.
Other ideas: A Creighton or UNO sporting event; museum tour; a play or event at the Holland or Orpheum; include her in a hobby event or activity; or include her in a family event.
Contact Jeff Ziemba jziemba@smithhayes.com or Kendall Scheer kscheer@fnni.com if you would like to invite Yumi to share some time with you and your family.
Steve Levinger, Vocational Service Committee Chair, would like you to schedule a 2-3 minute vocational talk. Share with members information about your profession, yourself and your family. Remember, we want to hear from our new members and our new members would like to learn more about the professions of their fellow Rotarians so please schedule a vocational talk.
