Secretary Nick Rosenberry Report

Omaha West Rotary Club Secretary Report for March 29, 2019:

This past Friday, we had several visiting Rotarians including Gary Bren from Downtown, Nizar Mamdani from Naples, and Roxy Orr  and Mark Taylor from Suburban. We also had many guests! Butch Ethington brought Dr. John Kugler. Lori Benton invited Heidi Kelly. Mark Ellsworth brought Jaren Tate. Joe Finnegan invited Noah Hoffman. Bev Karrer brought her husband Dr. Bill Karrer. And finally, Deirdre Milobar brought several guests – Colm Breathnach, Leon Milobar, Barb Levitan.

For good news, Lori Benton passed part 1 of the Rotary Leadership Institute. She also convinced her father to enter his 1929 Ford pickup into the upcoming Rotary auto show. John Philo’s son is going to be attending the University of Tulsa this fall. Carl Greiner’s daughter is going to be the Director of the ICU at the University of Minnesota. His son is going to be the Director of cardiovascular department, also at the University of Minnesota. Yolanda Hoffman was glad to be back at Rotary and her medical condition has improved tremendously. Martie Cordaro is glad that the exhibition games are over. They set an attendance record with 9,300. The regular season also starts on April 9th. Blake Martin is also glad that Yolanda is back. Nizar Mandami on behalf of UNMC just signed a MOU to help build a cancer hospital near Shanghai, China. Holly Gillespie’s brother is in China to adopt a 3 year old daughter. Her sister was also diagnosed with cancer, but the latest tests shows the cancer is gone!

Nick taught everyone the Heimlich maneuver and wished everyone a good week.
