No Rotary Meeting this Friday, January 4, 2019. Our first meeting in 2019 will be on January 11, 2019, at Skinner Magnet Center, our Adopt-a-school partner located at 4304 N 33rd St, Omaha, NE 68111.
Last week, President Jill Slupe presided the meeting while Matt McKeever served as Chair of the Day and John Morey was Entertainer Extraordinaire. Dwayne Brown gave the Invocation. Ben Kratz and Russ Iwan served as greeters. Andy Shim was Sgt. at Arms. Anne Fuhrman was Cashier. Everyone participated in the judging of Matt's contest for best costume and an ugly sweater. John Morey led our holiday singing.

Omaha West Rotary Club Secretary Report for December 21, 2018:
This past Friday, we had several visitors and guests! Tom Cardwell visited from Lincoln South. John Marburger joined us from Omaha Downtown. And David Gerald from Omaha Suburban brought his piano skills! For guests, Martie Cordaro brought his son Gavin. Bonnie Gill brought her friend Deirdre Milobar. Ben Kratz was joined by his wife Amy. Deb Sepich brought her husband Gordan. Carl Greiner brought his wife Belinda. Maryssa Brown brought her grandmother Vernitta. Michelle Schrage was joined by Patti Brannon. Larry McChesney brought his wife Carol. Nick Rosenberry was joined by his wife Carrie and youngest daughter, Margot. Brett Wawers brought his wife Kathy. Rebecca Miller brought her husband Mark. Rod Anderson was joined by his wife, Marlee. And Finally, Kim Kuhle brought Fred Schwesor. It was great to have so many guests!
For good news, Starla’s second cousin, Josh Wegner, just signed to play football at Nebraska. Tim Neal is about to start a new career with the Red Cross. Kim Kuhle just had an article published on the American Reinvestment Act. Lori Benton and Deb Neary have brought on several new mentoring partners for Partners 4 Kids. Brett Wawers reported that due to everyone’s generosity we raised nearly $1,000 from the Mitten Tree. Much of the proceeds will go to a Skinner family whose house recently burned down.

The Rotary Foundation Chair Bonnie Gill awarded Past President Del Toebben with his Paul Harris Fellow +8. Del served as president of our club and he has been an Omaha West Rotarian for 40 years. Ric Miller received his first Paul Harris Fellow award. Ric is our Fundraising committee chair who led our club to a new fundraiser, the Bloody Mary Jazzfest. Their combined total donations to The Rotary Foundation is $10,000.00. Thank you Rotarians for your generosity!
Last week, President-Elect Martie Cordaro introduced our newest member Ben Kratz. Ben is the Sales & Operations Manager at McCarthy's One Hour Heating & Cooling. Ben is engaged in the community as a baseball coach and through his business networking activities. Welcome to Rotary, Ben!
